Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets in WAB 105 on the fourth Thursday of every month, at 1:00 p.m.

MISSION

The mission of the Prayer Shawl Ministry is to provide hope, comfort, and healing. It is a unique way of reaching out to the community in a very tactile way. A prayer shawl can be seen as a symbolic “hug” from God.

A REMINDER OF GOD’S LOVE

Prayer shawls, sometimes called comfort shawls or peace shawls are intended to be a reminder of God’s ever-present love. A prayer shawl is a gift for every time and every occasion…joyful or sorrowful, for every circumstance of life…chosen of unchosen, when you are weeping or when you are celebrating. The power of the prayer shawl is in its physical properties and source of warmth.

GIVING A PRAYER SHAWL

Do you know someone who is in need of a prayer shawl? Perhaps you know of a friend or family member undergoing a physical or emotional challenge or someone who has experienced a personal loss or needs a tangible reminder that there are people who care, and that God continuously wraps each of us in his endless love! Prayer shawls are given to celebrate happy occasions too….birth of a baby or a marriage…occasions filled with hope.

CALLING ALL KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS

This ministry is open to anyone who has the skills to knit or crochet or who would like to learn how to knit or crochet. Whether you knit or crochet quickly or slowly, your help is welcome to help fulfill the mission of spreading God’s love through prayer shawls. Even if you can’t attend the meetings, shawls can be created at home and given to a member of the Ministry to be blessed and given to someone facing life’s challenges.

Sisterhood Women's Events

The Sisterhood is a new, dynamic group for ladies of ALL ages. Its purpose is to provide opportunities for fellowship every other month. A variety of activities will be offered every time we meet to accommodate our individual interests and abilities. We encourage you to BRING A FRIEND! We want to build relationships with other ladies, so don't be afraid to step out and try something new!

  • Ladies will meet for breakfast at 9am in the CORC, have a short devotional, and then break into individual groups for activities
  • Sisterhood Days will be held every other month, on the second Saturday of the month.
  • Several events will be offered each Sisterhood day.
