Moms & Munchkins

M&M's is a parenting program designed to improve the lives of young moms and their children through individual encouragement and support, classes in life skills and appropriate parenting, and access to community resources, and help with basic needs. Volunteers are needed for onsite childcare during regularly scheduled activities, to mentor the children's dads, and to coordinate pantry donations.

Sunrise Resource Center is thrilled to announce the addition of a Supplemental Food Pantry, to assist when or if Sunrise and M&Ms families need a little help with putting food on the table. Volunteers and Sunrise Kiddos will be responsible for organizing, operating, and filling need requests. Furthermore, we will offer drop-off services to any Senior adults or disabled persons in the neighborhood. We are not offering a permanent, ongoing food distribution service! Rather, the goal of the SRC Supplemental Food Pantry is to assist in emergency needs, as they arise, with the understanding that sometimes a "little help" can go a long way!

If your church, organization, business, or family is interested in helping stock our pantry, please text 704-609-7032 for details and drop-off locations. If interested in volunteering with the Food Pantry or other Sunrise Resource Center  programs, please let us know! We LOVE our community! We LOVE what we do!

M&M's Needs

GAS CARDS:

With inflation and the higher cost of gas, our moms are struggling to fill their tanks. If you or your organization are interested in donating, reach out to us. Gas cards are gifted to moms who regularly attend classes and workshops.

DIAPERS:

Size 5 and 6 Diapers. Various sizes and genders of Pull Ups (Walmart gift card donations for M&Ms to purchase) and WIPES are always a need!

CHILDCARE NEED:

One of our greatest needs! Seeking volunteers to help with childcare for monthly Budgeting/Finance Workshops, Healthy Boundaries Classes, and Parenting/Life Skill Classes and M2M events. See “Events” for dates/details.

PROFESSIONAL PARTNERS & GUEST SPEAKERS:

If you have a skill or profession that can benefit a young mom or Sunrise resident, consider donating time/expertise to this worthy program.

SUNRISE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:

Consider donating time/resources to ongoing community outreach to students and families.

MALE MENTORS:

Moms & Munchkins Parenting Program centers around serving adolescent moms and little ones. When mom succeeds in life, her child benefits. We recognize a strong family unit (mom and dad together) has an even more advantageous impact on a child. If your group is interested in pouring into our dads in a Male Mentorship role, we would love to partner with you.

SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PANTRY ITEMS:

See Mention Above!

FINANCE/BUDGETING MENTORS & CHILDCARE:

Seeking volunteers to train on and commit to monthly check-in with mentees.
