Who are MOPS?  What is MOMSnext?

Mothers are loving, giving and on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You take excellent care of your family, but who takes care of YOU? Where do you find time to relax, unwind and recharge? The answer is MOPS and MOMSnext, ministries whose purpose is to nurture you, a mom! Whether you are in the midst of your first pregnancy and are unsure of what to expect, you have only one more year before your youngest starts kindergarten or you are in the midst of those elementary school years, MOPS/MOMSnext  has something in store for you. MOPS  is for all mothers of preschool age children from birth to 5 years and MOMSnext is for moms of children ages 5-11 (the elementary school ages).  Both are places  where moms have the opportunity to make new friends, share experiences, learn, laugh, ask questions and learn biblical principles pertaining to womanhood, marriage and parenting. Both are dedicated to the message that “Mothering Matters!”

MOPS/MOMSnext at Denver UMC?

Our ministry is rapidly growing and supporting mothers with children ages 0-11. We have different groups which target specific and differing needs of our community of moms. We offer night time groups to help support those moms who choose to work outside of the home on a daily basis. Twilight MOPS/MOMSnext meets the 2nd Monday evening of each month from 6:30 pm-9:00 pm, offering childcare only on a reservation basis. We also provide a light dinner for the moms.  Our morning groups meet the 2nd Tuesday morning of each month from 9:00 am-12:00 pm providing the MOPS KIDS program for children ages 0-5. Please contact us at mops@denverumc.org if you have school-age children needing care. All meetings occur in the CORC (free standing building on the campus) from Sept.-May.

What to expect at MOPS/MOMSnext?

Daytime MOPS/MOMSnext:

Each meeting begins by dropping off your precious little ones at MOPS KIDS childcare located in the Family Life Center (FLC) within the DUMC preschool environment. The following 3 hours you will enjoy uninterrupted time for brunch, conversation, devotions, mom topics and learning new ways to grow as a mom.

Twilight MOPS/MOMSnext:

Each meeting begins with enjoying a light dinner.  Be sure to watch your email for monthly details!  Our Twilight meetings follow the daytime format so that all moms have a similar experience regardless of which meeting she attends.

All of our meetings are designed to equip moms with practical ways to make mothering more effective and our goal is to always point moms back to Christ. MOPS/MOMSnext offers the support and encouragement that moms today need to help them center their hearts and homes around Christ. We want moms to walk away refreshed and feeling more confident in herself in all of her daily roles. We know that “mothering matters” and “better moms make a better world.”

Who are MOPS KIDS?

While our Daytime MOPS moms enjoy a few hours of rest, rejuvenation and building relationships, children (ages 0-5) are being cared for in a loving environment called MOPS KIDS. Children are divided into age-appropriate groups and are involved in planned activities such as stories, crafts, music, and play. Our MOPS KIDS staff consists of volunteers from Denver UMC & our community and are dedicated to providing a safe, loving and nurturing environment for our precious MOPS KIDS.

What is the cost of MOPS?

Our parent organization, MOPS International, requires a registration fee of $31.95 per mom. In exchange, each mom receives a monthly magazine via US Mail Hello, Dearest, a weekly email, online resources and a free gift directly from MOPS Int. Our local ministry charges $25 to cover other necessary supplies. Mothering matters and every mom matters at Denver UMC, so contact Jamie Sidler if you require financial assistance or would like to make a donation to our MOPS/MOMSnext ministry.  The price is the same for Daytime and Twilight MOPS or MOMSnext.

*All fees are subject to change as required to support the ministry and are non-refundable.
